(Port) Wine of the month July 2020: Taylor & Fonseca Vintage Ports 1994

These Ports were hyped right from the start - for a reason. Now with some 25 years of age they begin to reveal what they have to offer in the near future:

Fonseca 1994: Dark red colour. The nose shows tobacco, white pepper, violets and liquorice. Raspberry, chocolate and a velvety tannic structure on the palate and a perfectly integrated acidity. Long and multi-layered aftertaste with a floral background. 19/20

Taylor 1994: Almost fully dense deep-dark colour. Coffee, plum and fresh-floral notes in the bouquet. Firm, ripe tannic structure and perfectly supporting acidity. Concentrated and complex palate with much more underneath, reduced red-berry fruit and coffee. Long, multi-layered aftertaste. Needs some five more years to fully wake up. 19+/20
